That he’s transgender. Though I would either like to see a statement as to which claims are true. What matters is how Manning wants to identify and I haven’t seen any direct statements on the topic.
If he identifies that way, that’s one thing. But it is impossible for him to be pre or post-op considering the fact that trans* people take tons of hormones.
If they wouldn’t let me into the military because I take an SSRI, I hardly think they’d let you in if you have to make sure you take your hormones everyday.

I’ve also heard reports that he’s gay and stuff. I don’t really care who he is, but rather that he’s being prosecuted for something Obama said he wouldn’t prosecute.
Transgendered =/= transsexual. *Very* significant distinction. The former doesn’t require hormone therapy.
On a tangent, though, I have trouble believing they’d prevent women from taking oral contraceptives as an alternative to menstruation, which would be far more difficult to deal with under harsh circumstances, but the government and, by extension, the military, rarely makes sense, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
